Surp Kevork Church, also known as Saint Kevork, in Plovdiv was originally an Eastern Orthodox church dedicated to Saint George the Victorious.
In 1149, the noble Bishop Alvisius of Arras was buried with honours in the churchyard. He had been sent on a special mission by King Louis VII of France to the court of Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Komnenos in Constantinople during the Second Crusade (1143–1180).
As early as 1767, the church was transferred to the Armenian Diocese of Plovdiv.
It is the only church with side sections in addition to its central nave: one for women and one for men.
A chapel was built beside the church. After several reconstructions, the church acquired its present appearance.
Today, it is the largest Armenian church in Plovdiv.
